A motion detector is a device that contains some kind of sensor that detects motion. They play an important role in security systems for homes and businesses. There are basically three types of sensors. The infrared sensors actually seek body heat. Ultrasonic sensors use pulses and actually measures the reflection from an object that is moving. Microwave sensors use microwave pulses to measure movement.
Not all motion detectors emit an alarm, many of them actually will turn on lights. And some of the alarms actually make a dog barking sound, which is another great way to scare off potential intruders. Motion detectors can be placed in the driveway, or at doorways and windows. Many people don’t feel the need for a full blown alarm system, and feel more comfortable with the simpler motion detector. Other times the motion detector is integrated with a comprehensive security system that includes an entire alarm system.
And homes are not the only casualty of burglaries. Businesses and cars are often broken into as well. Individuals and businesses are becoming more pro-active. Burglar alarms are one way that people are protecting themselves, and stepping up to defend themselves. Fortunately, there are quite a selection of alarms to select from. Plus many of the burglar alarms have come down in price tremedously, making them even more attractive.
